[*]Stone me! $100m price tag
December 17 2002
http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2002/12/17/1039656379469.html
Buyers with a spare $100 million are being sought for the Black Star of Queensland, a 733 karat sapphire.

The gem is up for private sale at the Kazanjian Foundation in Beverly Hills.

According to news reports from the 1930s, Mrs Roy McKiney of central Australia was on a picnic with her family when she stubbed her toe on the mostly-submerged rock.

The stone arrived in America in the 1940s, acquired by the Kazanjian brothers - Armenian immigrants who became highly successful California-based precious stone jewellers.
